Healthy eyes & migraines

Vitamin B2 is required for energy production, maintenance of a healthy immune system and normal tissue repair. It is necessary for the conversion of vitamins B6 and B3 to active forms and helps to maintain healthy homocysteine levels.

It may help to reduce the frequency of migraines, provide symptomatic relief of migraines and may assist in the management of migraines. For significant relief of migraine symptoms, use for at least 3 months.

Vitamin B2 helps to maintain healthy eyes during ageing, higher levels of riboflavin intake are associated with a lower incidence of age-related eye disorders. Vitamin B2 200mg may be used for the prevention and/ or treatment of vitamin B2 deficiency.

If symptoms persist consult your healthcare practitioner. Vitamin supplements should not replace a balanced diet.

Directions

Adults only - Take 1 tablet daily, with food or as directed by your healthcare practitioner.

Does not contain added egg, milk, peanut, soy, tree nut or animal products, yeast, gluten, lactose, artificial colourings, flavourings or preservatives.

B vitamins are water soluble so you need regular amounts on a daily basis. Any excess not required by your body is eliminated via urine so toxic build up is rare say, when compared to fat soluble vitamins which can accumulate within your fat stores and liver.

Busy B’s

B vitamins are involved in your metabolism at a cellular level so their beneficial effect in your body is varied and wide ranging for any number of important functions from strong healthy hair to preconception care to healthy mood balance.

B vitamins act as catalysts for normal chemical reactions within your body. A catalyst is a substance that allows rapid chemical reactions to occur using far less energy and time than it would take under normal conditions. As an example, if you ate a peanut butter sandwich and there were no catalysts available, it may take years to metabolise the sandwich, using up large amounts of energy from your body to no real benefit. If these catalysts are missing, as in a vitamin deficiency, normal body functions can break down and render you susceptible to disease.

The B group vitamins

There are eight B group vitamins:
1. Vitamin B1 Thiamine
2. Vitamin B2 Riboflavin
3. Vitamin B3 Niacin
4. Vitamin B5 Pantothenic acid
5. Vitamin B6 Pyridoxine
6. Vitamin B7 Biotin
7. Vitamin B9 Folic acid
8. Vitamin B12 Cyanocobalamin

Vitamin B1: Healthy nervous system & digestion

B1 helps produce the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, enhancing cognitive, brain and nervous system functions in your body. B1 improves digestion by aiding the production of hydrochloric acid, essential in breaking down dietary proteins into their amino acid components. Energy levels can be improved and fatigue reduced as B1 helps convert dietary carbohydrates into energy for your body.

Vitamin B2: Healthy eyes & migraines

B2 helps to maintain healthy eyes as you age and helps lower the incidence of age related eye disorders. B2 has been shown to reduce both the severity and frequency of migraines in migraine sufferers who took 400mg daily. B2 is also important for healthy immune function, tissue repair and general growth.

Vitamin B3: Energy production & antioxidant

Over 200 enzyme reactions in your body require B3 to work effectively and it’s essential for the breakdown of dietary carbohydrates, proteins and fats to produce energy. B3 plays an important role in your body’s antioxidant network, particularly the liver and may protect against damage from environmental toxins that you encounter on a daily basis.

Vitamin B5: Stress relief & hormones

B5 stimulates your adrenal glands, your fight or flight response, which helps your body cope with both physical and emotional stressors and improves your body’s response to these stressors. B5 also helps to generate energy for your body from dietary carbohydrates, fats and proteins and is involved in the formation of lipids, cholesterol and steroid hormones such as oestrogen and progesterone.

Vitamin B6: Mood balance & PMS

B6 is required for the production of the neurotransmitters serotonin and dopamine that help regulate and balance healthy mood. B6 also modulates hormone levels offering relief for PMS symptoms including mood swings, irritability, fatigue, bloating and fluid retention. B6 helps protect against birth defects and helps reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke.

Biotin Vitamin B7: Healthy hair & nails

Biotin helps support and maintain strong healthy hair and nails as well as helping to strengthen brittle nails and reduce nail splitting. Biotin is essential for cell growth and duplication so is beneficial during pregnancy, as biotin requirements are increased during pregnancy. Biotin is also an essential co-factor for 4 specific enzymes involved in the metabolism of glucose, fats and amino acids.

Folic acid Vitamin B9: Preconception care & heart

Folic acid is recommended during the preconception period and during pregnancy. Folic acid is heavily involved in DNA replication and has been shown to reduce the risk of spina bifida and neural tube defects. Folic acid, in conjunction with vitamins B6 and B12, help regulate homocysteine levels which is important in maintaining a healthy cardiovascular system.

Vitamin B12: Healthy heart & blood

B12 is important for normal cell growth and repair and assists in maintaining a healthy cardiovascular and nervous system. B12 is also important for the production and maintenance of healthy red blood cells. Sublingual B12 provides rapid absorption into the bloodstream and is ideal where digestive disturbances prevent dietary B12 absorption.
